Morning has come, cold night has flown
Bed is still warm, but you are alone
Was it an angel? Or was it a ghost?
Was it your husband, who you loved the most?
Was it a stranger, that you took to your room?
Seeking some comfort in the candle lit gloom.
Christmas is coming, the year has grown old
You decked out your bedsit in green and in gold
You wrapped up your presents in paper and twine
A gift to yourself, cheap corner shop wine
And you sung all the carols
You know them by heart
To hold back the tears, but now they must start
Here's to the snowfall, and the crisp winter air
Here's to your children, lost into care
And here's to your husband
Dead in his car
Dressed up like santa, but drunker by far
Here's to the New Year
And the sweet breath of spring
Lie down in your dreams and let the bells ring...
Merry Christmas.... repeat and fade
